For 75 anniversaries of AMMC

It is commonly known that, the copper production system of “Almalyk MMC” includes “Kalmakyr” mine, newly constructed “Yoshlik I” open cut, Copper enrichment and the  2^nd Copper enrichment plants as well as Copper melting factory. Our next article is not only about our Republic, but also about the "Kalmokyr" mine, which is considered the largest copper-molybdenum mine in the world.

The "Kalmokyr" mining area which enriched in copper-phosphorus ores, was opened in the twenties of the last century mining operations have been conducting in open cut method since 1954. Copper- phosphorus, gold and molybdenum deposits of “Kalmokyr” and “Sariq-chuqqi” mines supply the copper system of the complex with raw materials.

To date, the maximum depth of the "Kalmokyr" mine is 500 meters, the length of the pit is 4 km, and the width is 2 km.

From the operation date of the open cut to present time 1 435 957, 435 tons of copper ore has been mined, volume of removal of upper layers is 670 735, 747 thousand cub meter and more than 1 billion cub meter mountain rocks have successfully been removed. The power of “Kalmakyr” in 2024 for mining the mountain rocks is 30 402, 644 thousand cub meter. The mining area has oxidized and sulphide natural ores. At the moment, the exploitation of the quarry is carried out in a Complexd way.

Minerals from the lower horizons are first loaded into road transports, at the next stage into railway transports, and minerals from the upper horizons are also loaded into railway transports. It is planned to deliver the mined ores to the copper beneficiation plant, located 8 km from the quarry, in railway dump trucks. The rocks of the upper layer are transported to abandoned mines using railway vehicles. In order to mine the mountain rocks at present time 54 pieces of various power excavators and about 20 pieces of drilling equipment are being used.

It can be concluded that "Kalmokyr" started its new history of rise from the first years of our country's state independence. In 1993 19,5 million ton, and next year 13,6 million ton of ore was mined, from 1996 this indicator has significantly risen. In 1993 surface mining was 12027 thousand m³, in 1998 it was 5 184,6 thousand m³, from 1999 this indicator has grown up. In 2010 the works on surface mining successfully increased and this temp is being kept up to now.

According to the resolution dated November 23, 2009 of the President of our country “On measures to implement the investment program for the expansion and reconstruction of the Kalmokyr mine”, in the main mine of the Complex, a large amount of work was started on excavation and renewal of mining equipment. During 2009-2011 years 13 pieces of excavator branded EKG-10 and EKG-15 which total price amounted to 150 714,3 million sum, 10 pieces of drilling equipment branded SBSh- 250 MN, 16 pieces of bulldozers, by 3 pieces of auto graders and autoloaders, 5 pieces of pulling units, 43 pieces of dump cars, 3 pieces of charging machines, 2 pieces of drilling equipment branded BP-100 have been purchased, they have been put into operation in short term in assembling condition. According to the results of these technical and technological improvements The ore mining capacity of "Kalmakyr" increased to 3.5 million tons and ensured the achievement of the high mark of 30 million tons. In 2014 "Kalmakyr" managed to send its billion-ton ore to the Complexd enrichment plants.

During the years of independence, the core of the miners' team was renewed at the expense of talented engineers and technicians, specialists and hardworking workers and servants. The awarding of dozens of "Kalmakyr" miners with the highest orders and medals of our country is a sign of the respect of the head of our state for the working people. In 1998 Jonsaid Turdiyev excavator driver of the central mine was awarded with the title of “hero of Uzbekistan”, his colleague in upper surface mine Saydali Rahmonov was awarded with this kind of title in 2007. Former director of Kalmakyr mine department Viktor Ramme, driver of upper surface mine drilling equipment Habibulla Almatov, master of “Sariq-chuqqi” mine Sobirali Iminov, excavator driver of production field No 1Erali Qosimov, director of Kalmakyr mine department Muhammadamin Isaev was awardee with the title of “Labor fame”, excavator drivers of upper surface mine Shokirbek Abduvayitov, Saydali Rahmonov were awarded with the title of “Friendship”, chief mechanical engineer of “Kalmakyr” mine Valeriy Prixodko was awarded with the title of “Honored industrial worker in the Republic of Uzbekistan”, miners Abdumahkam Malikov, Abduhamid Mirzayev, Toshpo‘lat Ernazarov, Abdumalik Tursunov va Abdunabi Jalilov were awarded with the title of “Fame”.

In 2023 “Kalmakyr” mine mined 35,8 million tons of copper molybdenum ore, “Sariq-chuqqi” mine mined 5,4 million ton of copper molybdenum ore. Generally, in the last reporting year work of opening the upper layers conducted by Kalmakyr mine department amounted to 17,5 million m³. Last year 35 million 900 thousand ton of ore was mined, work of opening the upper layers in the volume of 16 594, 940 thousand cub meter was successfully implemented.
