We will continue our creative journey in the Khondiza Mining administration, located in the Surkhan oasis, in the base of material and technical support.
The only mine in Uzbekistan with zinc metal is located in Sariasia district of Surkhandarya region. It is the Khondiza underground mine belonging to AMMC. 650,000 tons of polymetallic ore are mined here. The mined ore contains not only zinc, but also metals such as copper, lead, and cadmium.
The ores mined from the ground are transported by trucks to the beneficiation plant and passed through several stages.
The semi-finished products produced at the factory are delivered to the material and technical supply base of the Khondiza Mining administration. If you pay attention to the concentrates stored in warehouses, they are divided into copper, zinc and lead. Therefore, to obtain finished metal from copper and zinc concentrate, they are exported to the Copper and Zinc Plant, and lead is exported to the Republic of Kazakhstan. Another important aspect is that if these semi-finished products are transported in open wagons, the lead concentrate sent to the Republic of Kazakhstan is loaded into special bags of 1 ton.
Any cargo coming and going to the Khandiza Mining administration is routed through this base.
In 2022, the base exported 24,000 tons of lead concentrate. In 2023, 17,000 tons of lead concentrate will be exported.
The base is located on an area of 5 hectares, and its main task is to receive cargo and deliver it to its destination. It also includes 6.3 km of railway tracks.
In addition, ammonium sulfate and sulfuric acid and fuel for motor vehicles are stored in 3 different capacities in the area.
51 employees working in this facility all day long receive products used in a number of technological processes, such as mill balls, reagents for enrichment processes, zinc and copper oxides, lime, and send concentrates to their addresses.
Head of the base Shukhrat Sharipov states that today a number of projects are being worked on at the base. In particular, modern electronic scales of 150 tons are being installed on the railway. This ensures accurate accounting and eliminates bureaucracy. Previously, each load was passed through individual auto scales, but in the near future they will be replaced by modern equipment.
Also, reconstruction works were carried out on the railway, and 2 opposing conductors were replaced. This increases the safety of the wagons and ensures that they reach their destination without incident.
Each enterprise has its own role in the production chain. Because if they work continuously, the chain will be complete. The small section that I told about today also has an impact on the continuous operation of the Khondiza Mining administration.
Our next destination is Khondiza-Parvoz camp.
