99.97 percent pure molybdenum metal was obtained at AMMC

23 June 2022, 9:18 1370

Today, the demand for rare metals is increasing for the production of many products used in radio electronics. It is worth noting that one of the main tasks of the scientific production association for the production of rare metals and hard alloys of the complex is to obtain pure molybdenum metal on the basis of metals.

Recently it has been achieved to obtain 99.97 percent pure molybdenum metal at production department for the production of rare metals and hard alloys. In May of this year, a new site for obtaining molybdenum metal was launched in the pyrometallurgical workshop of the association for the production of molybdenum and tungsten. As a result of effective research conducted at this site, molybdenum metal in its pure form, i.e. 99.97 percent was obtained and put into production.

To date, 96.4 percent molybdenum has been produced at the scientific association.

Importantly, the higher its purity, the higher its price. The price of 1 kg of 99.97 percent molybdenum on the world market in June is 46.85 US dollars. So, the growth rate of molybdenum export increased by 2.43 percent.

99.97 percent molybdenum brings a profit to the complex in the amount of 5 billion sum.

The Molybdenum and Tungsten Pyrometallurgical Shop of the Scientific Production Association has a production capacity of 820 tons of molybdenum products, and the annual production capacity of this site is designed to produce 400 tons of molybdenum metal. To date, 1 ton of 99.97 percent molybdenum has been produced at the site. 98.5 percent of pure molybdenum metal is exported.

Another important point is that 16 new jobs were created as a result of the establishment of this section.

In 2021, rhenium metal was obtained in a pure state by the experts and scientists of the complex. Today, the association's specialists have launched the production of molybdenum-containing composite products.
