On June 19 this year, representatives of the leading international certification organization Cert International presented two international certificates to Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant.
During the meeting, organized in the executive office of the AMMC, Marat Khabibulin, Regional Director for Central Asia of the certification body CERT International, presented Abdulla Khursanov, Chairman of JSC Almalyk MMC, with two international certificates. These are the international standard ISO 14001 "Environmental Management System" and ISO 45001:2018 "Occupational Health and Safety Management System".
In order to implement the requirements of the international standard of the environmental management system at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant, as well as on the basis of the recommendations of the KPMG International Consulting Company on the transformation of the plant, the placement of its shares on the world market, the assessment of readiness for an IPO and the roadmap, a number of events.
In particular, in pursuance of the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers dated August 25, 2022 No. 474 “On measures to determine environmental requirements and environmental protection standards in the mining and metallurgical industry based on international standards”, 22 international ISO standards (methodological benefits). Agency "Uzstandard" registered and implemented these standards in the prescribed manner (UzGS "ISO") as state standards of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Based on the requirements of the international standard ISO 14001:2015 "Environmental Management System", all the necessary documentation was developed and implemented by qualified specialists of ARK System Lab LLC. From September 5 to September 13, 2022, training sessions for industry and engineering workers were organized at the plant's training center.
In addition, training courses were organized in the training center for 24 specialists of the plant's divisions on the environmental management system. The classes were conducted by representatives of the international training company "CERT Academy". At the end of the training, the specialists received the appropriate certificates.
From May 15 to May 19, 2023, the international certification organization CERT International conducted an external audit of the system implemented at AMMC in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015, as a result of which a decision was made to issue a certificate.
As part of the "Roadmap for the transformation of the plant", approved by the order of JSC Almalyk MMC dated June 1, 2021 No. 723, the plant plans to introduce the international standard ISO 45001:2018 "Health and labor safety management system". In order to carry out these activities, large-scale work was carried out at the AMMC. In particular, by the order of the plant dated December 7, 2021 No. 1530, the “Policy in the field of health protection and ensuring safe work” was developed in the state, Russian and English languages, put into practice and posted electronically on the official website of the plant.
In order to introduce the international standard ISO 45001:2018 at the plant, develop documents in this area, and train personnel, the consulting organization Global Management Consult LLC was involved, together with which documentation was developed in the field of the health protection management system and ensuring safe work.
Based on the order of the plant dated February 11, 2022 No. 153, working groups were organized to introduce methods for identifying, assessing and managing risks in the structural divisions of the plant.
Based on the order of the plant dated April 7, 2022 No. 383, a system of health protection and occupational safety management system was put into practice in accordance with the international standard ISO 45001:2018.
Together with the international training company CERT Management, the training center organized courses on training the international standard ISO 45001:2018, which was completed by 120 employees, and Internal Audit, which was completed by 40 employees. Upon completion of these courses, the trainees were awarded the relevant certificates.
In order to ensure the impartiality and efficiency of the functioning of the health protection management system implemented at AMMC and ensuring safe work, the management of the plant carried out an analysis and generated a corresponding report.
To assess the large-scale work carried out at AMMC on the implementation of a health and safety management system based on the international standard ISO 45001:2018, an independent organization, Cert International LLC, was involved.
From May 15 to May 19 of this year, the auditors of this organization conducted an international certification audit of the health and safety management system at the plant for compliance with the international standard ISO 45001:2018. Based on the results of the audit, a decision was made to issue an international certificate.
