AMMC athletes are Asian champions

08 May 2023, 8:51 901

From May 1 to May 6 this year in the city of Alleppey, India, the Asian Powerlifting Championship for men and women was held.

It should be noted that the athletes of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical complex participated in this prestigious championship as part of the national team of our country and achieved significant results.

In particular, Konstantin Khardin, one of the students of Alexander Romanenko, coach of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Trade Union Council of AMMC workers, took first place in the 93 kg weight category and won the Asian Championship.

Our other representative, Kemran Shirinov, left no chance for his opponents in the weight category up to 74 kg. Kemran also won the Asian Championship.

Elena Khardina, who took part in the women's competition in the 84 kg weight category, also won the Asian Championship.

Another important aspect is that these athletes have been involved in powerlifting for many years, and also work at the Copper Smelter. It should be noted that they have many international achievements.

Also, our compatriot Metin Gafurov, a student of the Tashkent University of Information Technologies, became the champion of Asia in the 105 kg weight category among youth.

The Asian champions were solemnly welcomed today at the capital's airport.

The athletes of the complex are now preparing for the Uzbekistan Cup and the World Cup.

On behalf of the labor collective of the complex, we congratulate our athletes on these victories.
