The smelter is the largest division of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex, producing cathode copper, gold, silver, technical selenium and tellurium, enameled copper wire, ammonium perrenate, sulfuric acid, rhenium, molybdenum, copper sulfate and others. This is a modern enterprise with advanced technologies and a complete process chain for obtaining precious and rare metals from raw materials.

It is not for nothing that the copper smelter is called the heart of AMMC. It is here that the product of hard work of JSC “Almalyk MMC” uniting in its ranks more than 35 thousand workers is received.

Today the labor collective of AMMC celebrated the 60th anniversary of the smelter. In honor of this significant date in the Palace of Culture “Metallurg” held a large concert program.

At the festive event the congratulatory message of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan was read out. Abdulla Khursanov, Chairman of the Board of the JSC “Almalyk MMC”, sincerely congratulated the culprits of the celebration, noting the fact that during the years of independence, the copper smelter has done a great amount of work aimed at its further development.

Since the first years of independence, the leadership of Uzbekistan has paid great attention to Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex and, in particular, to its smelter, where the production of gold and silver of the highest grade was established in the shortest possible time.

On December 24, 1991, a silver ingot was cast at the plant for the first time. Two days later the first gold bar of independent Uzbekistan of 999.9 grade was received. In May 1992, the gold and silver refining shop reached its design capacity. Four years later, the London Bullion Market Association awarded the status of “Good Delivery” to silver of AMMC, soon this status, as a confirmation of quality, was awarded to gold of the plant.

Also during the event there was a ceremony of awarding production leaders with “Pitmen’s Glory” badges, certificates of honor and valuable gifts.

The event on the occasion of the copper smelter anniversary was also attended by representatives of leading US and European companies. Pia Karhu, President of the Metals division of the Finnish company Metso Outotec, said: “Thanks to the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan today, the industry is developing rapidly. The interest of large foreign investors is growing from year to year. Our company has been cooperating with the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex for several years now. We plan to supply equipment for the new enrichment plant of AMMC and the new metallurgical complex. We are glad to be a part of the megaproject implemented by the Complex. We wish the staff of copper smelter further labor successes.

Then, songs of famous Uzbek pop artists Anvar Ganiev and Akhror Usmonov and the State Philharmonic of Uzbekistan were performed, which gave the audience a festive mood.

After the concert program the foreign guests and labor veterans of AMMC visited observation platforms of “Kalmykyr” mine and “Yoshlik I” deposit, construction site of copper concentrator-3, copper smelting plant, industrial railway transport department, sanatorium-preventorium of the Complex.
