AMMC athletes have been awarded

On December 26, the Palace of Culture “Metallurg” hosted the awards ceremony for athletes of the Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex based on the results of the 2024 competitions.

The event was attended by the Director of the Professional Football League of Uzbekistan Diyor Imomkhujaev and the Chairman of Board of JSC “Almalyk MMC” Abdulla Khursanov.

At the beginning of the event, Abdulla Khursanov delivered a welcoming speech, noting that AMMC achieves outstanding success not only in production activities, but also in the sports arena. He paid special attention to the victories of football players in 2024, calling this year the year of triumphs. Congratulating everyone on the upcoming New Year, Abdulla Khursanov emphasized that in 2025 the management will continue to actively support the development of sports.

Director of the Professional Football League of the Republic of Uzbekistan Diyor Imomkhujaev highly appreciated the contribution of the plant to the development of various sports. He noted that the plant pays attention not only to football, but also to chess, handball, basketball, wrestling, karate, athletics, powerlifting and motocross. He especially emphasized the importance of supporting children's football in 2024.

After that, the official ceremony of honoring the athletes began.

The first to be invited to the stage was the women's football team "OKMK-W", which took second place in the "Women's Higher League-2024". The players were awarded silver medals. Silver was also received by the football players and coaching staff of the team "OKMK U-21", which finished the season in second place in the tournament table.

Then the awards were presented to the professional football club "OKMK" under the leadership of coach Mirjalol Kosimov. The team became the silver medalist of the Super League of Uzbekistan.

Loud applause was received by the men's and women's handball teams of AMMC, who became champions of the country this season. It was also noted that the AMMC women's basketball team finished the season on a high note, winning the title of champion of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of other sports areas also received awards. Among them are members of the section of the physical culture and sports department of the AMMC workers' trade union council in karate-do Zilola Ashirkulova, Sanjarbek Erkinov and Sitora Akhilboeva, as well as track and field athletes Dilnura Khaidarova and Beknur Abdikodirov. The achievements of wrestlers such as Sokhibjon Boymatov, Diyorbek Abdunabiyev, Khudoyor Darobjonov, Eldor Jalilov and Behruz Ibrokhimov, champions of many international powerlifting competitions – Kemran Shirinov, Samandar Abduvoitov, Metin Gafurov and Elena Khardina were highly appreciated.

Particular attention was paid to chess player Shokhjakhon Sidikov, who won bronze medals at the Uzbekistan Championship and the Asian Championship, becoming the pride of the plant. The AMMC management promised to continue supporting chess players in 2025.

Motocross racers led by experienced coach Andrey Sazonov also received well-deserved words of recognition for their success in international competitions.

The AMMC futsal team, which finished the season with bronze medals, has become the champion of Uzbekistan five times over the past five years, won silver three times and won the Super Cup twice. Coach Alexander Petrov received words of gratitude for his contribution to the team's success.

The Football Association of Uzbekistan thanked the plant for its assistance in organizing the Futsal World Championship, which took place from September 14 to October 6, and presented a memorable gift.

The event ended with a reporting conference, where the results of 2024 were summed up and goals for 2025 were outlined.

Attention was paid to the activities of the football academy at the club, as well as the plans of the teams. The participants, including the representatives of the mass media and fans, received answers to their questions. Among the fans' proposals, the ideas of holding a charity football tournament to support cancer patients, organizing matches of the “OKMK U-21” team in Angren and increasing the number of fans at away games stood out. It is worth noting that all initiatives were supported by the management.

2024 was a busy and fruitful year for the athletes of the Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex. The management of the enterprise expressed confidence that 2025 will bring new victories, and the country's flag will once again fly in international arenas.
