Effective Integration of Science and Industry at AMMC

08 October 2025, 8:5 461

Today, it would not be exaggeration to say that high-quality education forms the foundation of progress in all sectors. There is always strong demand for highly knowledgeable specialists. In this regard, AMMC has been cooperating not only with universities across the Republic of Uzbekistan but also with prestigious international higher education institutions under mutually beneficial agreements.

The integration of education and production strengthens students’ practical skills and provides a basis for applying scientific research to solve technological challenges. Recently, a delegation of students from Osh Technological University (Kyrgyzstan), the Mongolian State University, and the University of Geological Sciences visited the Complex and had the opportunity to exchange experience with industry specialists.

Students began their visit at the “Kalmalyr” mine, part of Uzbekistan’s largest copper production enterprise, AMMC. The mining processes carried out using large-scale mining equipment drew considerable interest from the guests.

The delegation also visited the AMMC Honorary History Museum located in the “Metallurg” Cultural Palace. There, they received detailed answers to all their questions regarding the operations of various divisions of the Complex.

For reference, this industrial excursion was organized on June 24-25 as part of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Mongolia, in order to ensure the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the mining and geology ministries of the two countries, the cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Education of Mongolia, as well as the agreements reached within the framework of the First International Forum of Rectors of Kyrgyz and Uzbek higher educational institutions.

Student Perspectives:

Riahi Amma Vissal, a student at the University of Geological Sciences:

“I am from Tunisia. Within our university’s international cooperation program, we visited Almalyk. I was particularly impressed by your country and the city of Almalyk. We observed production processes at the Complex, and seeing such large-scale technological operations was very exciting for us.”

Lkhagva Ochir Enkhjin, a student at Mongolian State University:

“I study at the Faculty of Geology and and Geophysics. Within a special cooperation program, we visited Almalyk. Here, we had the opportunity to directly observe production processes. We are very pleased with this experience.”

During the visit, the delegation also toured the Engineering School attached to the AMMC Training Center, familiarizing themselves with opportunities provided for students.

In the afternoon, the opening ceremony of the branch of the “Mining Operations and Technologies” Department from the University of Geological Sciences under the AMMC Resources and Mining Department took place. This branch aims to:

Train highly competitive specialists for the labor market;

Address the company’s pressing issues through scientific research;

Enhance the qualifications of professors and instructors;

Provide students with the opportunity to combine practical technological training with their academic studies.

In conclusion, the integration of education and industry is a crucial factor not only for economic growth but also for the development of human capital. This approach ensures that the education system remains connected to real-life needs, while science is applied in practice. As a result, a new generation of specialists emerges, capable of meeting modern societal needs and mastering advanced technologies.
