22 December 2023, 17:19 730

Today, December 22, the opening ceremony of the first digital transformer substation “Tukket” at Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex took place.

Chairman of the Board of JSC “Almalyk MMC” Abdulla Khursanov, opening the event, noted that this substation, with its advanced and modern technologies, is the only one not only in Central Asia, but also in the CIS countries. The Chairman also expressed his gratitude to all the workers involved in the event.

During the event, a group of industry representatives who took an active part in the construction of this facility were awarded valuable gifts.

To date, the realization of the investment project “Development of the deposit “Yoshlik I” is in full swing. Within the framework of the project the mine “Yoshlik I” has been prepared, construction of crushing and reloading plant at this mine and main conveyor lines has been completed. The construction of the Copper Concentrator-3 facilities is also intensively underway. Work continues on the construction of infrastructure facilities required for the mine and mill operations, including railroads, workshops for repair and assembly of mining transportation equipment, external power supply facilities and others.

The first digital transformer substation of 500/110/10 kV voltage class in Uzbekistan was built at Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex to supply power to copper concentrator-3, which is being constructed within the framework of the investment project for the development of “Yoshlik I”, as well as to the “Kalmakyr” and “Yoshlik” open pits.

All steel structures and concrete products of the substation were manufactured by domestic manufacturers. Switching equipment of the substation is made in modern gas-insulated version.

The equipment of foreign manufacturers, major giants of the electric power industry, is also installed: 500 kV and 110 kV circuit breakers, current and voltage transformers, power transformers.

In addition, the substation is equipped with relay protection and automation units, automated control system, dispatch control system and data collection and transmission system.

All high-voltage transmission lines from the substation to Copper Concentrator-3 and the “Yoshlik I” mine have already been installed.

For information: Today, work is underway on the development of the “Yoshlik I” deposit and the construction of Copper Concentrator-3.

This project is the largest investment project in the history of Uzbekistan. As a result of its realization, the production capacity of the Complex will increase several times. This, in turn, will contribute to the increase in the gross domestic product of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

As a result of development of “Yoshlik I” deposit, production will be achieved: at the first stage (2021-2026) - 300 thousand tons of copper cathode; at the second stage (2024-2028) - 400 thousand tons of copper cathode.
