Reforms at AMMC are in the Focus of Parliamentarians

23 June 2026, 13:10 337

The investment projects implemented in the recent years at Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex have caused increasing interest for the enterprise. A clear sign of the industry's entry into a qualitatively new stage was the opening of Copper Processing Plant No. 3 on 16 March of this year, with the participation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

To learn about the operations of this large-scale industrial facility and the ongoing reforms in the copper industry, the members of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis visited AMMC on 19 June of this year.

The visit was organized at the initiative of the Oliy Majlis Committee on Entrepreneurship, Competition Development, and Industry. At the beginning of their visit, the members of parliament, accompanied by Sadi Shermatov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors for Personnel and Social Affairs of JSC “Almalyk MMC”, toured the museums located in the “Metallurg” Palace of Culture.

The parliamentarians were deeply impressed by the production process at the “Qalmaqir” mine, one of the largest deposits in the world and the starting point of the plant's entire production chain.

During the visit, the parliamentarians paid attention to the Copper Processing Plant No. 3, designed to take the country's industrial potential to a new level. The deputies got acquainted with the large-scale production complex of the enterprise, in particular, they visited the grinding complex and the digital dispatch center – key links in the technological chain of ore processing.

The guests received comprehensive information about the plant's technical capabilities, the innovative solutions implemented, and its prospects for further development. Once it reaches its design capacity, the plant will be able to process up to 60 million tons of ore per year. The strategic importance of the plant is determined primarily by its contribution to the development of the national economy and employment.

Once the facility reaches full capacity, thousands of new jobs will be created. Crucially, a significant portion of these vacancies are for local specialists and young professionals with modern knowledge and professional competencies.

From a production standpoint, the plant will annually produce copper concentrate, from which copper, gold, silver, and other precious and base metals will be extracted. The resulting product will be continuously sent to the next process stage – the copper smelter. Once the plant reaches full capacity, the daily copper concentrate production volume at AMMC will increase significantly.

The members of parliament emphasized the importance of the investment projects being implemented at the Complex for strengthening the country's economic potential and expressed their readiness to provide comprehensive legal support for the further development of the industry.
