Industrial cooperation: benefit for all

22 December 2023, 13:59 437

For three days - from December 12 to 15, the main exhibition site “Uzexpocenter” in Tashkent hosted the traditional republican inter-sectoral industrial fair initiated by the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Khokimiyat of the city of Tashkent and the Center for Digital Transformation.

Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex also presented its exposition, also inviting private and small business enterprises to cooperate, presenting localized commodity products, exploring opportunities for further development of local production in order to meet its own needs.

Although at AMMC itself, the implementation of the Localization Program is proceeding at an advanced pace. According to Dilshod Kholdaraliev, Head of Localization Department of AMMC, 147 projects on expansion of commodity nomenclature were in operation at AMMC only this year, 58 of them were launched this year. According to the results of the year, new products worth 420 billion soums will be produced for the Complex. Next year the Complex plans to launch 65 more projects. Thus, in 2024, it is expected to produce products worth 1.1 trillion soums, which is 2.5 times more than in the current year.

Within the framework of the industrial cooperation program this year, the Complex has placed purchases under contracts with local manufacturers for 1.3 trillion soums. It is expected that next year the volume of orders will exceed 6 trillion soums - 4.5 times more than in the current year.

Today, AMMC is actively implementing the project on development of “Yoshlik I” deposit, within the framework of which the construction of copper concentrator No. 3 and copper smelting complex is underway. Therefore, the volumes of purchasing different types of products from local suppliers are growing and will continue to grow. Within the framework of the recently completed fair of JSC “Almalyk MMC”, contracts were concluded for the purchase of products of domestic producers with a total value of 400 billion soums.

There are already many examples of successful industrial cooperation at AMMC. For example, cooperation has been established with the Andijan Mechanical Plant, which has mastered the production of spare parts for railcars, and the “Nurafshon Maxsus Texnika” company is assembling five dump trucks with a carrying capacity of up to 220 tons.

“Now we are importing these heavy-duty machines, we do not produce them here. In recent years, we have purchased a batch of modern dump trucks with carrying capacity of up to 220 tons for the “Yoshlik I” deposit. One such machine was transported in six wagons. Almost all spare parts, units and assemblies are also imported. To localize the production of spare parts and components of dump trucks by 40% in the next few years is a realistic task,” believes D. Kholdaraliev.

Today AMMC implements several projects jointly with foreign companies. For example, German Falk Porsche has organized in Uzbekistan the production of liners, geogrids and other products from polymers and geocomposite materials, and this year it has already delivered its products to the plant for 33 billion soums. It also plans to develop the production of high value-added copper products here.

Next year, another German company will help launch the production of polymer-concrete baths for Copper plant; they are needed to produce cathode copper. These are very large products, and 1500 units are needed for production. It is very costly to import them from Europe, but we have everything in our country to produce them. Besides, with another German company we plan to master the production of acid-resistant pipes and gas ducts for the chemical and oil and gas industries. They have not been produced in our country before.  The project, which is planned to be launched next year, costs 10 million dollars.

Together with Menzel, AMMC plans to master the production of electric motors and launch a service center.

The figures show how relevant it is. Every year the Complex buys about 800 motors abroad and repairs about 5 thousand motors. In general, the enterprises of the Republic import such products for the amount exceeding 100 million dollars. That is why the new production is very necessary and perspective direction not only for AMMC.

In the near future, representatives of a Chinese company are planning to visit the Complex, which is ready to establish a joint venture and produce here under the license of such large companies as “BelAZ”, “Terex” and “Komatsu” spare parts for dump trucks and other special equipment, which are imported exclusively from abroad. The project will create 250 jobs and produce $40 million worth of products annually. It is planned that the capacity of the new production will cover not only the needs of JSC “Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex”, but also the needs of other enterprises that use such large-sized mining equipment.

It should be noted that moving forward, AMMC opens the way and provides support to young developing enterprises. The Almalyk Foundry Mechanical Plant (ALMZ) was established under the “Take in tow” program and started its work this year. Now it produces three types of parts for AMMC’s mining equipment - links for excavator tracks, teeth for excavator buckets, bearings... The new enterprise, which was launched with the support of the Complex under a $25 million project, plans to reach its full capacity of 50 tons of parts per shift. It will both master new types of products and expand the order portfolio by supplying already mastered products to other consumers. The launch of the new production allowed to employ 250 people. And this is also a very important aspect.

And everyone benefits from every such project. By helping to organize local production, AMMC helps not only itself, but also young enterprises, population, and the state.
