A new type of products from man-made waste

01 March 2023, 8:9 1513

It is known that an effective method in all plans to combat the build-up of production waste is their processing. Fruitful work is being carried out in this direction at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine.

In particular, at the end of 2022, the production of ferromolybdenum from industrial waste was launched at the research and production association for the production of rare metals and solids. For this purpose, a site for the production of ferromolybdenum was created in the hydrometallurgical workshop of the association, where today they receive 2 tons of this product per month.

As a result of this project, aimed at obtaining additional profit through the processing of man-made waste, 12 new jobs were created.

Ferromolybdenum is an alloy of iron and molybdenum. This ferroalloy plays a crucial role in the industrial production of materials. The main consumer of ferromolybdenum is ferrous metallurgy, because Mo is an important alloying element in a large number of steels, cast irons and alloys.

Adding this ferroalloy allows you to create tool materials. It has a positive effect on the final properties of the product, it also creates wear-resistant elements and tools that can be operated even at high temperatures.

Also, the use of ferromolybdenum when alloying steel instead of pure molybdenum increases the economic value of the resulting products.
