Press tour to the Tashkent Central Geological Exploration Expedition

16 October 2023, 9:44 1370

On October 12 of this year, the information service of the joint-stock company “Uzbekgeologorazvedka” organized a press tour to the Tashkent Central Geological Exploration Expedition of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The purpose of the press tour was to get acquainted with the activities of Uzbekgeologorazvedka JSC and the progress of tasks aimed at ensuring the development of the mineral resource base of the republic.

First, the participants of the press tour were presented with detailed information about the activities of Uzbekgeologorazvedka JSC in the area of compiling and digitizing geological maps and the effective use of transport equipment.

Also, as part of the press tour, media representatives got acquainted with the activities of the Tashkent Central Geological Exploration Expedition, in particular, with the main transport equipment of the expedition, drilling work at the Ungurlikon site, technical processes at the core storage facility and the laboratory complex of the East Kurama Field Geological Exploration Expedition of Tashkent CGE.

Based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 28 of this year, UP-27 “On the state program for the implementation of the development strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 in the “Year of Care for People and Quality Education,” a number of projects were implemented in the Tashkent Central Geological Exploration Expedition.

The Tashkent CGE consists of two field expeditions, the first of which is the “East Kurama Field Geological Exploration Expedition”. Workers of this expedition are currently carrying out geological exploration and evaluation of rare and non-ferrous metals at the Kyzyl Olma and Chodak deposits on 13 projects. Of these, 6 projects are being implemented using funds allocated from the state budget, and 7 projects using special funds.

The second is the “Almalyk Field Expedition”, in which the Kalmakyr deposit, due to its scale and diversity of minerals extracted from it (more than 10 colored and rare elements of the periodic system of Mendeleev). It should be noted that the Kalmakyr mine is one of the world's largest open-pit porphyry copper deposits. In accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On additional measures to expand the production of non-ferrous and precious metals on the basis of the deposits of Almalyk MMC JSC,” large-scale work is currently underway to develop the Yoshlik I deposit. As a result of the implementation of large investment projects, it is planned to increase the production capacity of AMMC by 4 times. To carry out these works, the construction of copper concentration Complex-3 is currently underway.

“The core storage facility has 22,500 core boxes containing 135,000 linear meters of these rock samples,” said the chief geologist of the Almalyk field expedition, Davron Ermatov. - Currently, our expedition is working on prospecting, exploration and evaluation projects for 2 polymetallic and 6 copper ores, as well as 5 rare metals.

In recent years, thanks to the attention of the head of our state paid to the geological exploration sector, the material and technical base of the industry has been radically updated, new special equipment and drilling equipment made on the basis of advanced foreign technologies have been put into operation. As a result, labor productivity has increased significantly.

Previously, geological work was carried out at depths of up to 600 meters. Now geological research is being carried out at a depth of up to 1,200 meters. This, of course, increases the efficiency of the work being carried out aimed at expanding the mineral resource base.

A striking example of the work carried out in this area is the discovery of the large porphyry copper deposit “Miskon” in Almalyk. Also, due to additional exploration work in the deep horizons and flanks of the Karabulak and Yoshlik II deposits, reserves of copper-molybdenum and gold ores are increasing. The expansion of the lead-zinc mineral resource base is facilitated by the Kulchulak deposits and the central areas, and the increase in gold reserves is facilitated by the Kuyikenzhasai, Zhanubiy I and Togap areas.

During the press tour, media representatives got acquainted in detail with the ongoing reforms in the field of geology using the example of the Tashkent Central Geological Exploration Expedition.
