On December 19 of this year, a press tour on the topic "AMMC: Implementation of Investment Projects in 2024" was held at Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex, which brought together representatives of the print media.
The management and leading specialists of Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex took part in the meeting with representatives of the republican, Tashkent regional and Almalyk town print media.
Before the journalists visited the divisions of the plant, a conversation was organized for them, during which responsible persons spoke in detail about the work carried out at AMMC today, the progress of the implementation of investment projects, as well as social policy.
Deputy Chairman of the Board for Personnel and Social Issues of JSC "Almalyk MMC" Sadi Shermatov emphasized that Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex always supports the social sphere. Every year, major repairs are carried out at preschool educational institutions, social facilities. Assistance is also provided to other regions of our country. For example, in 2023, the “Chotkol” cultural center in the village of Krasnogorsk, Parkent district, Tashkent region, was completely renovated and brought into a modern look. In March 2024, a new sewing factory was launched in the village of Chadak, Pap district, Namangan region. And there are many such examples.
Deputy Head of the Investment and Capital construction department of AMMC Obid Jonsaidov told journalists about investment projects:
- Thanks to the attention of the head of our state to the mining industry, the enterprise is being modernized. The following figures can serve as confirmation of our words. In 2012-2016, 123 million US Dollars were spent on the stability of the enterprise. In 2017-2024, this amount increased 35 times and reached 4.5 billion US Dollars. This made it possible to increase the volume of industrial production by 1.8 times, and the level of localization – by 7.7 times. By 2030, it is planned to increase copper production to 500 thousand tons, gold to 50 tons and silver to 270 tons. To date, more than 4 billion dollars of investment have been mastered. As a result of the implementation of this major investment project, the AMMC ore deposit will receive the status of the largest in the world. In this direction, in 2025, the copper processing plant-3 with a capacity of 60 million tons, sulfuric acid shop No. 6 with a capacity of 180 thousand tons, as well as new fully automated pump-hydrocyclone units at the copper processing plant will be put into operation. The start of the construction of this plant was given on October 15 of this year during the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex. As a result of the commissioning of Copper Processing Plant No. 4, the volume of copper production will significantly increase, which will make it possible to establish the production of new types of products from it. The interest of large entrepreneurs of developed countries in AMMC is increasing from year to year. In particular, over the past year, the management and specialists of the plant held a dialogue with hundreds of investors from such countries as Japan, Korea, Germany, Finland, Great Britain, China, Singapore. They are currently working on new investment and innovation projects. AMMC was one of the first in the republic to start attracting direct foreign loans without a state guarantee; in 2024, their utilization rate will reach 1.8 billion US Dollars. This, in turn, indicates the high level of confidence of foreign banks in the financial condition of the plant.
The Conversation Continued During a Tour of the AMMC facilities.
At the “Kalmakyr” and “Yoshlik I” viewing platforms, the mass media representatives got acquainted with the production process of open-pit mining of polymetallic ores. Currently, the “Yoshlik I” quarry is fully prepared for the extraction of 60 million tons of ore per year. The first crushing and handling complex was built at the mine. Since the beginning of the project, 210.2 million cubic meters of overburden have been completed. 41.63 km of track have been laid and electrified. 400 units of equipment are operating at the mine. Main conveyors with a length of 4.2 km have been prepared for transporting ore to the Copper Processing Plant-3 warehouse. One of the features of this conveyor line is that due to the terrain features, it passes over a 44-meter-high bridge. The introduction of the conveyor system will reduce ore transportation costs by at least 30%.
After that, the press tour participants got acquainted with the progress of construction of the Copper Processing Plant-3. As part of the implementation of the 1st stage of the investment project "Development of the Yoshlik I deposit", in parallel with the construction of MOF-3, equipment is being installed and adjusted. Currently, 10,427 builders are participating in construction work and more than 790 units of special equipment are involved. As a result of the commissioning of the new factory, about 3,000 new jobs will be created.
The next address of the press tour was the zinc plant, where journalists were provided with data on the process of producing zinc, cadmium and sulfuric acid, as well as on the construction of the new sulfuric acid shop No. 6.
The final destination of the press tour was the copper smelter, where about 85% of the plant's commercial products are produced. Including cathode copper, gold, silver, selenium, tellurium, copper sulfate, rhenium, sulfuric acid, enameled copper wire, palladium powder.
In 2024, the plant expanded its product range. The production of granulated gold and silver for the jewelry industry of our country began.
During the press tour, media representatives were able to get answers to all their questions.
