Press tour to AMMC

18 November 2023, 11:19 956

On 17 November 2023, thr press tour took place at AMMC, organized by the Agency of Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with the information service of the plant.

The press tour was attended by the heads of information services of government and administrative bodies, as well as representatives of the media.

The articipants of the press tour got acquainted with the activities of the information service of Almalyk MMC, as well as with the progress of implementation of investment projects.

First, the participants visited the plant’s museum, where they learned in detail about the history of a large industrial enterprise. Then they got acquainted with the activities of the plant’s information service. Today, the information service includes the editorial office of Internet media, the corporate TV channel "OKMK TV", the newspapers "For Non-Ferrous Metals" and "Rangli Metallar".

The next points of visit were the observation platform of one of the world's largest mines – “Kalmakyr” and the “Yoshlik I” deposit. Media representatives were able to observe the process of ore mining and its transportation.

The plant's production capacity is based on the reserves of the open deposits “Kalmakyr”, “Sary Cheku”, “Yoshlik I” and four underground mines. In order to expand the mineral resource base of AMMC in accordance with the standards of the JORC code, SRK Consulting revalued mineral reserves and created a mathematical and geological model of the deposit.

It should be noted that according to the assessment of SRK Consulting, the “Yoshlik I” deposit is recognized as the largest in the world in terms of the amount of gold in ore. Today, the plant’s reserves occupy 1st place in the world in terms of the amount of gold in ore, 2nd place in terms of the average gold content in ore of copper deposits, 3rd place in terms of ore volume, 6th place in terms of the volume of copper in ore.

Currently, the Concept for the development of the Complex until 2030 has been developed and is being implemented. Within the framework of the Concept, the development of the “Yoshlik I” deposit and the construction of copper concentration plant No. 3 are being carried out.

As a result of the development of the “Yoshlik I” deposit, production will be achieved:

at the first stage (2021-2025) – 300 thousand tons of copper cathode;

at the second stage (2024-2028) – 400 thousand tons of copper cathode;

at the third stage (2026-2030) – 500 thousand tons of copper cathode.

Currently, as part of the development of the “Yoshlik “I deposit and the construction of copper processing plant No. 3, the mine has been prepared where 60 million tons of ore will be mined per year. For this purpose, 170 million cubic meters of waste rock were extracted. As a result, today the mine is 3.7 km long, 2.3 km wide and 90 meters deep. Unlike other factories, the first crushing and transfer plant was built at the mine itself.

Main conveyors with a length of 4.2 km have been prepared, which will transport ore to the factory warehouse. One of the distinctive features of this conveyor line is that it passes over a 44-meter-high bridge based on the terrain. The speed of ore transportation along the conveyor line will be 7 meters per second. The introduction of the ore conveyor transportation system will reduce the costs of this process by at least 30%.

Next, the participants of the press tour visited the observation platform of the copper concentration plant-3. The construction process of this enterprise, which is part of the megaproject, made a great impression on the guests.

To date, all the process equipment necessary for the production divisions of the copper concentration plant No. 3 has been delivered to the construction site, and installation work is underway. Currently, 23 thousand builders and more than 500 units of special equipment are involved in construction work. After the commissioning of the “Yoshlik I” mine and copper processing plant-3, 6 thousand new jobs will be created. Annual tax revenues to the state budget in the amount of US$300 million will also be ensured.

The press tour participants also visited the central mechanical repair plant and got acquainted with the production process of the enterprise, which is the main executor of the localization program at the plant.

In the second half of the press tour, the guests visited the social facilities of the plant. Thus, the mass media representatives got acquainted with the activities of the sanatorium, which is aimed at improving the health of the plant’s workers, and the conditions created here.

After this, the participants of the press tour got acquainted with the achievements of the plant’s athletes training at the AMMC sports complex.

At the end of the press tour, with the participation of the employees of the Agency of Information and Mass Communications, the mass media representatives and press secretaries, a tree planting campaign was held as part of the national project “Green Space”. During the event, seedlings of various fruit and ornamental trees were planted in the sports complex, and the “Garden of Press Secretaries” had been created.
