Achievements of scientific research of specialists and scientists of JSC “Almalyk MMC”.

The briefing on this topic with the participation of the head of the information service, Umida Karshiboeva, was held at the Agency of Information and Mass Communications.

The following information was presented during the briefing:

As a result of the integration of science and production, the great success has been achieved at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine. In particular, the specialists and scientists of the plant recently became the owners of a patent for the invention of technology for producing metallic indium.

Together with the Research Institute of Mineral Resources, the AMMC scientists and specialists extracted metallic indium in laboratory conditions from the process solutions of the zinc plant using the new technology. Currently, the industrial experiments are being carried out. In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Inventions, Utility Models and Industrial Designs,” the Ministry of Justice issued the utility model patent for this invention.

Indium metal is used in the manufacture of jewelry and semiconductors, in electronics, medicine, and space technology. Indium is also added to anti-corrosion coatings and used in the production of smartphone screens, tablets and car headlights.

Today, indium metal is produced in the countries such as Russia, China, Australia, India, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Canada and Peru. One kilogram of this metal costs USD 230 on the world market.

After the completion of industrial experiments on the production of indium metal, it is planned to launch production of these products from the 2nd quarter of this year.

To date, the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine has a total of 14 patents for utility models. Last year two of them were received. This is an international patent for the invention “IAP 07032” - “Method for extracting platinum from gold refining solutions”, as well as a utility model patent “FAP 45383” - “Method for extracting refined palladium in powder form”.
