31 July 2024, 15:12 309

As part of the republican media forum on the topic of “Responsibility for the creation of national content in the media”, which began its work on July 30 in Nurafshan, a press tour was held on July 31 to the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex. The forum, organized by the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan jointly with the khokimiyat of the Tashkent region, is attended by representatives of state and non-state central media, as well as journalists and bloggers from the Republic of Karakalpakstan and various regions of our country.

During the press tour, media representatives visited the observation deck of the “Kalmakyr” mine. The guests also got acquainted with the progress of the investment project “Development of the Yoshlik I deposit”, within the framework of which a new copper processing plant-3 is being built.

Currently, under the “EPC” contract signed with the contractor, the main technological equipment required for the production shops of the enterprise has been delivered to the construction site of the Copper Concentrator-3. Installation work is currently underway. The foreign company Worley Parsons was engaged to carry out technical control in construction and installation works. The production capacity of CC-3 for ore processing is 60 million tons per year. It is envisaged that the commissioning of the new enterprise will allow the creation of 2,800 new jobs. In addition, the annual volume of tax revenues to the state budget will increase by 300 million US dollars. The volume of exports will increase by 500 million US dollars. It is worth noting that with the launch of CC-3, the only one in the CIS countries with a modern automated control system, the ore processing capacity of the plant will reach 100 million tons.

The next point of visit for the press tour participants was the Engineering School of the plant. The Engineering School project is being implemented in accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 11, 2023 No. PP-300 “On measures for the high-quality and timely implementation of the “Uzbekistan-2030” Strategy in 2023.”

- The training center of the Aurubis company became the prototype for the engineering school. All conditions have been created here for obtaining not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills, - said the director of this school Bekzod Salimov. - All the necessary equipment has been purchased for the school - axial milling machines, CNC lathes, laser equipment for cutting metals, etc.

At the first stage, the engineering school will train employees of the plant who are engaged in their work in the following areas: geology, mining, mining transport, mine surveying, mineral processing, metallurgy, mechanics, energy, automation of production.

At the second stage, engineering and technical workers for AMMC and other industrial enterprises of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be trained here.

Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan Kholmurod Salimov: “The activities of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex, a giant of non-ferrous metallurgy in our country, have always attracted the attention of media representatives. And therefore, within the framework of the media forum, we planned to organize a press tour to AMMC, in which journalists from all over our republic will take part. It is gratifying that our proposal was supported by the management of the plant. Taking this opportunity, on behalf of the leadership of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan, I express my gratitude to the leadership of AMMC for the excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of a large enterprise, as well as to be impressed by the investment mega-projects, the implementation of which is of great importance for increasing the economic power of our country.”
