Dear metallurgists, dear veterans of copper smelting production!

I sincerely congratulate you on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the copper smelter of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine!

The history of the copper smelter, which is the heart of our plant, begins on May 17, 1958, that is, from the day the decision was made to build it.

Five years later, thanks to the valiant work of the builders, on November 25, 1963, the reverberatory furnace was installed for heating. And on December 31 at 13:30 the metal was smelted for the first time and the first product was obtained - blister copper.

From the first years of independence, the leadership of Uzbekistan paid much attention to the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine and, in particular, to its copper smelter, where the production of gold and silver of the highest standard was established in the shortest possible time.

On December 24, 1991, a silver bar was cast at the plant for the first time. Two days later, the first gold bar of independent Uzbekistan was received. In May 1992, the gold and silver refining shop reached its designed capacity. Four years later, the London Bullion Market Association assigned the status of “Good Delivery” to AMMC’s silver, and soon the plant’s gold was awarded this status as a confirmation of quality.

Since its creation, the copper smelter has been and remains the most important structural unit, completing the production chain of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant with the production of commercial products.

Today, the copper smelter produces more than 148 thousand tons per year of copper cathode, as well as gold, silver, technical selenium and tellurium, enameled copper wire, ammonium perrhenate, sulfuric acid, semi-finished calcined molybdenum, copper sulfate, etc.

Since 2017, on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev, a new history of the plant began. The workforce of the copper smelter also actively participates in the process of implementing the investment project for the development of the Yoshlik I deposit.

Metallurgists of the Copper-smelting plant play an important role in solving the priority tasks facing JSC “Almalyk MMC”  related to the construction of copper processing plants No. 3, 4, 5 with an ore processing capacity of more than 200 million tons per year, the construction of a new metallurgical complex, which provides for an increase in production copper products up to 500 thousand tons per year.

The construction of these facilities, equipped with modern energy-efficient equipment, will not only increase production volumes, but also significantly reduce gas emissions into the atmosphere, thereby preserving a significant part of the useful components in production and ensuring environmental safety.

It is noteworthy that the glorious labor traditions of the plant’s metallurgists continue today. At the plant, the dynasty of Shadmanovs, Dadakovs, Imomnazarovs, Nurmatovs, Kondratievs continue the profession of metallurgist with pride and devotion...

The labor victories achieved by you standing in front of the “fiery” furnaces make a huge contribution to increasing the economic power of our country. The gold and silver you produce serve to further improve the welfare of our people.
