In accordance with Presidential Decree № PQ-345, “On Measures to Further Improve the National Qualifications System of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) system – which acknowledge skills and competencies acquired through non-formal and informal learning – has been identified as one of the priority areas in the reform of the national qualifications framework.
To accelerate progress in this direction, the National Qualifications System Development Institute, in cooperation with UNESCO, organized a four-day seminar-training within the framework of the “Concept for Introducing Mechanisms of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in Uzbekistan.”
The event was attended by international expert Michael Aribaud, representatives of the Almalyk MMC Qualification Assessment Center, specialists from relevant ministries and agencies, as well as members of the working group. During the meeting, participants discussed the five-stage RPL model, developed based on international best practices, and agreed on concrete steps to integrate in into Uzbekistan’s national qualifications system.
Discussions focused on creating the legal, organizational, and methodological foundations for the gradual implementation of RPL, accrediting assessment centers, training evaluators, and improving monitoring and validation processes.
At the end of the seminar, the Management Committee approved the next stages of the project and its implementation roadmap.
This initiative will contribute to further enhancement of the National Qualifications System, expanding lifelong learning opportunities and enabling continuous professional development for all.
