The ore-dressing complex operating within the structure of “Khandiza” mine administration of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex was put into operation in 2011.
The enrichment plant is located on the territory of Sariasi district of Surkhandarya region at a distance. Polymetallic ore is delivered to the enterprise from the “Khandiza” mine on “Isuzu” dump trucks with carrying capacity of 18 tons. Every day up to 2,000 tons of ore are poured on the plant’s industrial site.
According to Farkhod Kholnazarov, head of the production and technical department of the “Khandiza” ore department, 1,000 tons of lead concentrate was exported to foreign consumers in the first 5 months of 2023. In addition, according to the forecast, it was planned to process 249,000 tons of ore. In fact, 262,750 tons of ore were processed, and the forecast was fulfilled by 105.5%. The forecast targets for metal content in copper concentrate were met by 111% and recovery was 101.2%, for zinc concentrate by 101.0% and recovery by 101.4%. The forecast indicator on lead concentrate production was fulfilled by 111,9%. These products were sold for export.
Production and technological process consists of several stages. Polymetal ore of nominal 1000 mm particle size from the “Khandiza” mine is delivered to the plant site by truck and loaded directly onto a pan feeder by means of a forklift. From the feeder the ore flows to the feed window of the jaw crusher. The capacity of this equipment is 400-900 tons per hour. From the crusher ore of 300 mm coarseness is delivered through the discharge window to the production site. Then the ore is transported to the receiving hopper by a loader. For unloading of hoppers there are two belt feeders, operating alternately. From the feeders ore is reloaded to a conveyor and then to an inclined conveyor, which transports ore to the beneficiation building directly to the mill feed of the first stage. The set capacity is maintained by smooth speed control - by the sub-bunker feeder according to the indications of the conveyor scales. At the first stage the ore is crushed by the MMPS-5x3.4 mill to 0.71 mm. At the second stage the ore is crushed up to 50-55%. And at the third stage the ore is crushed up to 75-78%, after which it is delivered to the copper and lead section.
The technological process here is a bit more complicated than at the other AMMC concentrators. As this plant produces concentrates of several metals. The technology of processing and extraction of polymetallic ores is different, here the concentrates are extracted by collective-selective method. Copper-lead concentrate is extracted in the eponymous department, zinc concentrate is precipitated and sent to zinc flotation department. The extracted copper-lead concentrate is fed to the thickeners. After that, the selective flotation process starts, during which the copper concentrate is separated. The lead concentrate is then precipitated. A similar process takes place during zinc concentrate extraction. After extraction of zinc, lead and copper concentrate the dewatering process starts with the help of Italian press filter “DIEMME Press”. Zinc concentrate is sent to the zinc smelter and copper concentrate is sent to the copper smelter. Lead concentrate is sold for export to Kazakhstan. The hourly capacity of the plant is 82.07 tons and the daily capacity is 1,850 tons.
The process of digital transformation that is being implemented in all structural subdivisions of the Complex is not bypassing this plant as well. According to Azamat Bobomurodov, Head of Department of Automation of Technological Processes Control System at “Khandiza”, this year modern dispensers PR105M with high productivity were installed at the plant. In the flotation process, metering devices distribute reagents in a certain amount, ensuring their accurate and timely supply.
In addition, new cabinets for the automated control system were installed on the flotation machines, which ensured optimal operation of the equipment. Electronic scales manufactured in Germany were installed on the conveyor. This made it possible to make the dosing process accurate.
Also this year in the framework of digitalization it is planned to realize 2 more large projects. These are modernization of the equipment of the upper level of automated process control system and automatic control system of the mills. As a result of these projects implementation the technological process will be optimized, control will become operative and the influence of human factor will be minimized.
Delegation of Tajikistan visited AMMC
June 22 this year Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex was visited by a delegation from the State Supervision Service for Safe Operation in Industry and Mining Supervision under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The executive office held a meeting of guests from Tajikistan with the management of AMMC and responsible persons of the department of labor protection and industrial safety, during which the parties discussed issues of establishing cooperation.
They also discussed issues of industrial safety at production facilities.
In the course of the visit the guests were familiarized in detail with the activities of the Complex and visited the observation sites of “Kalmakyr” and “Yoshlik I” mines.
